Finally, we can see the essence of George W. Bush’s compassionate conservatism in his administration’s Wall Street rescue. Will Washington soon extend the same care and compassion to America’s schools, family farmers, people without health care and our inner cities?
Socialism for the rich is not enough.

To the Editor:
The only real way to revive the collapsing American economy is to restore faith in it. And the best way to do that is to end the Iraq war and balance the federal budget.
A balanced budget was the cornerstone of our economy during the peace and prosperity era of the Clinton administration. Any other measures are nothing more than Band-Aids.
